Course Description

The Timp Triathlon is a Splash distance triathlon which includes a 5k Run, 10 Mile Bike, and 350 Meter Swim in that order.

Swim

The swim course for the Provo Triathlon Sprint consists of one half mile (800m) lap beginning on the northwest boat ramp, following a counter-clockwise direction and finishing at the same ramp as the start.

The Olympic course is simply two laps (1 mile).  Once the first lap is completed, athletes round the first buoy and repeat the course.

The Kids race is about 100 feet long near the boat ramp of the Official swim start, parents are allowed and encouraged to swim with their children if they want.

Bike

The Sprint Bike course for the Provo Tri consists of 2 laps of just over 6 miles around the neighborhoods of west Provo and the State Park.   The bike leaves on the north end of the park and follows Lakeshore Drive north to 1520 North.  Turn right towards Geneva Road.  At Geneva Road turn right again travelling south to Center Street.  Another right turn takes you west to the park entrance.  Enter and repeat!

Road construction is finished and the new asphalt on Geneva Road is like riding on a cloud with a gigantic shoulder you can get lost in.  Of course 1 mile of Boat Harbor Drive is still like the Paris/Roubaix cobblestones but that just makes for more adventure!

The Olympic Bike course, as always, is double the Sprint or about 25 miles.

Kids will follow a 1 mile loop inside and on the frontage road of the park.

Run

Sprint 5k

Oly 10k

The Sprint and Olympic Run leave  the transition area and go north into the campground.  Athletes will follow a counter-clockwise loop through the campground.  At the entrance they will turn right and travel west to the end of the Jetty.  Upon returning to the transition area, the sprinters will repeat the course.  Olympic racers will complete 4 laps.  This runner and spectator friendly course will allow many opportunities to see family and friends.  We are excited about this change, it is sure to be a classic.  As a note, the Jetty has been damaged by weather and vehicles so please run on the sides where there are minimal potholes and the road is smooth.

Kids will run along the same course as the adults for .5 mile.  The will actually run the Jetty Sprint lap only.
